Gettin' Lean In 2014 Update: Week 15





Completed the BodyRock.tv 21 Day Bootcamp. I liked pairing it with the Go Fit Gals 6 Week Shape-Up workouts.  I still liked the 30 Day Real-Time Challenge from BodyRock.tv better.  Clean eating isn't difficult now, but I'm having a difficult time eating every 2-3 hours.  Sometimes I'm not hungry or I'm so busy I forget to eat.

Body is getting lean, but I'm still not happy with my abs.  I don't know why getting lean abs is so difficult.  I'm not going to get discouraged. I will continue to work out and eat clean.  It will happen, I just have to continue to be consistent and optimistic.

For week 16 I will continue with the 6 Week Shape-Up workouts and eating plan.  Also I will be doing the FitnessBlender.com Free 5 Day Challenge. They will release a different workout every day this week.  Today's workout is here!

Gettin' Lean In 2014 Update: Week 14

Spring is finally here!  I've been trying to go for more walks.  Still haven't replaced my Fitbit. Hopefully soon I will have another one. 

Quick update on week 14.  I've been doing ok with eating clean, just a few slip-ups. My workouts as usual have been fantastic.  Doing the BodyRock.tv 21 Day Bootcamp workouts followed by the Go Fit Gals 6 Week Shape-Up workouts have been great.  All together I workout in the morning about 45 minutes.

I will continue doing those workouts and following the Go Fit Gals 6 Week Shape-Up Meal Plan. I'm feeling good and have plenty of energy. Every week I notice my body getting more toned.  I had some extra energy today and decided to do FitnessBlender.com's 1000 Calorie Workout.  I did 60 minutes of it.  I will try to do all of it later this week.  It's hard to resist doing their workouts;-)

Gettin' Lean In 2014 Update: Week 13





Back in Vancouver on Tuesday and the very next day I was back to working out and eating clean. It was very easy to get back to it because Tuesday night I went grocery shopping and made sure that I got everything I needed.  No excuses!

So ready for Spring to arrive!  I want to get out and walk more.  Walking is my favorite cardio.  Anyway, we found a place to live in Toronto so that means the packing will begin soon.  I'm really nervous about this move.  I have to be focused and not fall into the stress eating trap.

The Go Fit Gals started their Bootcamp today.  As a Go Fit Gals Ambassador I decided to do the 6 Week Shape Up plan along with the Bootcamp participants for support.  Plus the first time I did it I lost 6 pounds;-) I will also continue doing the BodyRockTV 21 Day Bootcamp workouts.  The BodyRockTV workouts are usually around 20 minutes.  I do the BodyRockTV workout first and then instead of doing the burnout I substitute the Go Fit Gals 6 Week Shape Up workout.  I tried it out this morning and all together it took me around 40 minutes to work out. Very doable!

Recipe of the Week is Quinoa Pancakes. The flavor takes some getting used to.  I put yacon syrup on them and that made them taste better.  I want to try adding some fruit and/or nuts to the batter.  Quinoa is a great source of  protein and is gluten-free.

Gettin' Lean In 2014 Update: Week 12

Chicago! <3

Back from our holiday in Toronto and Chicago.  Well Toronto was a vacation/looking for a place to live.  We will be moving to Toronto in the summer.  Enjoyed my time there and ate at some great restaurants.  As a matter of fact while we were in Toronto we ate out for all of our meals.  The hotel didn't serve breakfast.  So, I tried to make wise choices for breakfast and lunch and indulged at dinner.

In Chicago we stayed with my mom so eating a clean breakfast was easy for me, but I did eat out several times and my mom did cook some of my favorite things for dinner.

In Toronto we didn't walk as much as I thought we would because the real estate agent drove us around and it was so cold.  I did a couple of the Jessica Smith TV Hotel workouts. The 9 Minute Total Body Sculpting Workout and Hotel Room Cardio.  In Chicago I did do more walking, but once again it was unreasonably cold for March. 

I'm sad because I lost my Fitbit somewhere between Chicago and Vancouver.  I will just get another one, but I feel naked without it. Anyway, I survived my vacation and they didn't have to roll me on the plane because even though I enjoyed myself I didn't go overboard.

The workout schedule for week 13 I'm starting the BodyRockTV 21 Day Bootcamp.  It's similar to the 30 Real-Time Challenge, but now you have to purchase a guide for the burnout sections.  I will just stick to the Youtube workouts.  So far I like it.  I've been doubling up on the workouts to keep up.  It started on Monday and I started on Wednesday the day after we got back.

While in Chicago I ate at a place called Protein Bar a couple of times.  Healthy, delicious, high protein food with great service.  I highly recommend them!  There are several locations in the Chicagoland area, also Washington DC and Colorado. I had the Guac & Roll, the Spinach & Pesto Bowl, and the Bucktown Green Tea.  So many other things on the menu I wanted to try.  If we were there longer I know I would've gone back a few more times!

Gettin' Lean In 2014 Update: Week 11



Week 11 was busy!  Trying to keep up with my workouts and getting ready for our holiday.  I was stressed out, but I didn't turn to food.  I love the way I'm feeling now.  Eating clean and working out hard has made me feel stronger, energized and look leaner. I actually don't get as bloated during that time of the month.

Since we are on holiday I will try to eat as clean as possible, but I will indulge on some of my favorite foods.  I will be doing a lot of walking and if I have time for a workout I will, but I think week 12 will be an active rest week.



Since I've been eating clean every day I have rediscovered avocados.  I put them in my eggs, salads and on toast.  Mashed avocado on toast is one of my favorite breakfasts.  It keeps me full for hours!  The morning we left for our holiday I ate that and wasn't hungry again until we reached our destination. Here's the recipe! I added sauteed onions to mine.  So delish!

Gettin' Lean In 2014 Update: Week 10


Another great week!  I completed the FitnessBlender.com 4 Week Meal Plan.  Such a great easy plan.  I reviewed it on my other blog The Elements of Review. I'm starting the plan again.  Once again clean eating has become second nature.  I don't even have to think about.

I also finished the BodyRock.tv 30 Day Challenge.  I love working out hard.  Getting excited for the new BodyRock.tv 21 Day Challenge that begins March 24!

For week 11 I will be doing FitnessBlender.com workouts.  They try to release new workouts every week.

Gettin' Lean In 2014 Update: Week 9



Another great week!  Clean eating has now become a way of life.  Feeling good and not as tired.  I've been following the Fitness Blender Meal Plan.  Precise measurements and interesting food combinations.  I eat 3 meals and 3 snacks daily.  I follow the 1800 calorie per day plan because I work out hard at least 6 days a week. Many times I find myself so full that I forget to eat my snacks.
