10 Ways to Get Happy in 10 Minutes or Less


When you are having a bad day and need to get out of a gloomy mood, here are 10 ways you can perk up your mood and get happy:


1.     Picture a Loved One: Keep a picture of a loved one in your wallet and when you feel sad pull it out and look at that lovely face. You will immediately feel warmth in your heart and have to smile.

2.     Reflect on the Positive: When you are trying on a bathing suit and look down at those stretch marks, look over at the little one you love so dearly and remember why the stretch marks are there.

3.     Find your Happy Place: If you are having a bad day at work focus on your favorite place and imagine the next time you will be there. If it is a far away place you cannot visit, just focus on the visual and let it calm you and take you away to happier times.

4.     Treat Yourself: You can't do this all the time, but on a particularly bad day make yourself your favorite food or snack and savor every bite. They say nuts and chocolate can do wonders to boost your mood.

5.     Vent with a Friend: Call a friend and vent. Make sure it's not a friend who will add fuel to the fire. Choose a friend with a good sense of humor who is always good at looking at the bright side of things. They'll be sure to get you laughing in a few minutes.

6.     Watch a Funny Video: Go on YouTube and enter laughing babies. There are very few people who can resist laughing when you watch these little cherubs chuckling away. If you aren't a big fan of babies then look for your favorite funny animal videos such as cats or dogs or just funny videos in general.

7.     Fake a Smile: This might sound weird, but fake a smile. This really works. Do a full out grin complete with teeth and crinkled eyes. For some reason this makes you feel better.

8.     Take a Walk: Go for a mind clearing walk. Unless it is pouring rain out get some fresh air and give yourself a quick change of scenery. Take in the sights, smile at people as you stroll and find a happy place.

9.     Text a Friend: Text a loved one and say "make me laugh". You'll be surprised at the responses you might get.

10.  Do Some Cleaning: Clean off your desk, or your room, or your coffee table. Anything that is messy and might be distracting and depressing.  A quick organization goes a long way to making your day a little brighter. Messiness can be causing you stress and you might not even realize it. Neatness helps you stay focused and maintain a more positive attitude.

Trying any of these tactics will help your day seem a little bit brighter and might even improve your happiness enough to really make your day. Don't let the blues get you down. Choose happiness and embrace the sunnier side of life.

I guess it's from all of those years of sleeping on my right side. OZ Naturals says the eye gel will eliminate dark circles and puffiness.  It can also soothe and soften the eye area.

I used the eye gel in the morning and right before bed underneath my moisturizer.  I applied it to my forehead, around my eyes and cheeks as instructed. It blends in very easily. I didn’t use a lot, because a little goes a long way. After using it for two weeks I notice the skin above my eyelid sags less and my entire eye is actually lifted.  I couldn't believe it!

Spring Has Sprung! A Great Time for Change!




The way my body reacts to exercise is changing.

This week was spring break for the kids and for me too. LOL Spent a lot of quality time with them this week.  Didn’t work out at all, but did go for long walks with the kids.  I think my body appreciates the break.  I notice I don’t get bloated as much anymore since I’ve stopped during strenuous workouts. As I get older, I’m starting to realize I cannot do what I did even five years ago and expect to see the same results.

My daughter said to me a few days ago “Mommy, you are so skinny now!” What?! Me skinny?! I have noticed my body is shrinking.  I attribute that to walking everywhere and taking coconut oil capsules.  Coconut oil is great for weight loss.   Read about coconut oil and weight loss here.  I take two capsules in the morning and two in the evening with meals. Worth It Wednesday: Living in a Decaffeinated World

Caffeine, specifically coffee is part of my daily life. I drink 2-3 cups a day. It relaxes me, curbs my appetite and keeps me sane. This past year I have been dealing with acne on my face. I never had problems with my skin until recently. I know it is one of the symptoms of peri-menopause, but I've tried so many things to get rid of them and nothing had worked.


The only times I have given up caffeine was when I was pregnant. During both pregnancies I couldn't stand the smell or taste of coffee for the first three months because of morning sickness. So that made giving up coffee easier. When I was ready to have coffee after the first trimester I drank decaf because I read that caffeine wasn't good for the baby.

I wrote a blog post last week Hormones, Acne & Peri-menopause...Oh My! The blog post contained a podcast from the Go Fit Gals and a video from The Lodown. Both of them contained information about hormone imbalance. Dr.Terry in The Lodown video is an Integrative Cosmetic Skin Doctor. She looks at skin care from the inside out by examining  the person's gut health along with lifestyle and how it affects the skin.  Hormonal imbalance. inflammation and caffeine can cause buildup of acid.  She also mentioned sugar, but me giving up sugar would be another blog post.  She suggested having lemon and water in the morning or green juice. The juice can have kale or broccoli to help balance your diet and make it more alkaline.  You can watch the video here.

Caffeine can increase your stress hormones.


Dr, McGee in the Go Fit Gals podcast explained that as we age estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone aren't being made as much because the ovaries are shrinking. As we age the adrenal glands are supposed to take over to produce the hormones.  But if you are under too much stress, the stress hormones like cortisol increases instead. She also talks about how to test for hormone imbalance and what we can do to regulate them.  In the back of my mind I knew my beloved caffeine might have something to do with my acne, but I didn't want to believe it. I will no longer drink caffeinated drinks on a daily basis.  I’ve already noticed my skin getting a bit clearer.  I don’t have the terrible afternoon breakouts anymore.
