Gettin' Lean In 2014 Update: Week 27

Toronto's CN Tower

I will be MIA for a while because we will be without internet at the new house in Toronto for a few weeks.  Week 27 was a busy, stressful week.  Even though I wanted to move to Toronto from Vancouver to be in a larger city and to be closer to family in Chicago, I will admit that it's a bit scary Vancouver is what I have known for 2.5 years. The challenge will be not to eat my feelings. For workouts I have a ton of PDF workouts from the Go Fit Gals I can do without equipment. Also I will be able to get Youtube on my phone.  The screen is tiny, but I have used it for workouts before.

I will be updating my status on Twitter because I'm able to do that on my phone so feel free to connect with me as GFGKelly or Dancingvalentin! Anyway, I wish you all well and I will be speaking with you soon.

Gettin' Lean In 2014 Update: Week 26

A rose from our garden in Vancouver

Not much to report.  Noticing I'm not as bloated during Aunt Flo as usual.  I stop using artificial  sweeteners in my coffee and tea and think that has made a difference.  I did a few workouts last week.  Mainly I walked a lot.  Mostly from room to room packing up stuff.

My milia has gotten a lot better.  You know what has worked the best?!  Several times a day I put a hot towel on my face.  I leave it there until it gets cold. After that I put tea tree oil on my face.  Before bed I put Garnier Ultra-Lift Cream.  The only reason I use that cream is because it has retinol in it and I had some samples.   I notice the milia are flatter and there are less of them.

I will be glad when we are finally in Toronto. Looking forward to settling down to our new life.

No workouts scheduled for week 27.  Still packing!

As you all know I'm a Go Fit Gals Ambassador and I'm very happy to announce that they have slashed prices on their plans.  I just bought the Go-Fit 21 plan for $39.99!  That's a huge price reduction.  You have to go to their website!  If you sign up for a plan, make sure to tell them I sent you! I probably won't start the Go-Fit 21 until we have been settled in Toronto for awhile, but I wanted to make sure I bought it now because of the great price.

Recipe of the week:
Go Fit Gals approved Mango Margaritas
2C frozen mango
juice from 1 orange
2 oz clear tequila
1 oz triple sec
2-4 ice cubes
Blend until desired consistency.
Serves 2

I'm going to need several after this move! A great drink for the 4th of July celebration too!

Gettin' Lean In 2014 Update: Week 25

Easier said than done!

Week 25 was busier than ever!  Didn't get many workouts in, but was on my feet a lot and got 70,000 steps last week. It's been difficult to find any time for myself because of the teachers' strike.  My diet has been 80% clean. I did relieve stress with some cake last week.

My skin is the thing that's bothering me the most.  I have these tiny bumps on my face called milia. It's different than acne.  They are said to caused by keratin getting trapped beneath the outer layer of the skin and then forming a cyst. I've tried exfoliating, Listerine, tea tree oil, baking soda....you name it, I've tried it.

I've never had problems with my skin.  Even as a teenager I never got acne. So this is distressing to me.  I'm already stressed because of the move.  I think I will have to locate a dermatologist in Toronto if this milia continues.  I'll give it another couple of months.  I've read that it could go away on its own.

Workout schedule for week 26: Walking and packing boxes LOL

Gettin' Lean In 2014 Update: Weeks 23 & 24

Ok I haven't been very good with the updates. I'm sorry.  It's a combination of lack of motivation, being super busy packing for Toronto, my ankle injury, oven and dishwasher dying and the kids getting out of school early due to the teachers' strike.  Also my face has broken out into these little bumps. They have been a pain.  I've been trying all sorts of things the past two weeks. I may have found the solution.  I will write more about it next week, hopefully. Yes, it has been a couple of busy weeks!

I really haven't stop trying to eat clean.  That's always the plan, but eating every 2-3 hours some days goes right out the window.  If I'm busy I will forget to eat.  And sometimes if I remember to eat I'm not hungry. My workouts have changed.  Been doing more Yoga, Pilates and upper body workouts to try to stay off of the ankle as much as possible. I also started doing meditation, but now that the kids are out of school due to the teachers' strike it has been difficult to get that in.

Workout schedule for week 25 is basically much like the last couple of weeks. Yoga, Pilates, walking and upper body training. One upper body workout I've been doing is 10 Minute Workout to Tighten Arm Jiggle.  This workout is no joke!

Gettin' Lean In 2014 Update: Week 22

Week 22.....Ugh well, I injured my foot and had a difficult time putting pressure on it. It's the same foot that the refrigerator shelf fell on last year. So, I wasn't able to complete all of my workouts.  Still attempting to eat clean most of the time, but I'm getting a bit discouraged and I need some motivation. I think I'm just ready for a change. I'm ready for our new adventure in Toronto.

So for week 23 I've decided that I will just do Pilates.  Try to stay off of my foot because on Monday of week 23 I tried to go for a jog, but my foot wasn't having it.  This article 6 Smarter Ways to Train for Common Body Goals inspired me to get out and jog.  I want to tone my thighs.  The article says to do that I should do distance running. And for a toned belly the article says Pilates is the best. I also wanted to start this BodyRockTV 14 Day Legs Challenge, but it will have to wait until next week.

Workout schedule for week 23:
Tuesday-Saturday: Pilates (I'll just choose various workouts from YouTube)

Recipe of the week comes from the Go Fit Gals, No Bake Chocolate Truffles! Great snack to get your chocolate fix and you don't need the oven which is great for those hot summer days ahead!

Gettin' Lean In 2014 Update: Week 21

Week 21 was ok.  Tried to eat clean 80% of the time.  I'm having a problem eating every 2-3 hours because I'm busy.  Want to keep my metabolism up.  I don't like saying I'm too busy to eat right. Lately, I've been feeling like I'm being pulled in so many different directions.  There really aren't enough hours in a day. I'm really liking the Crying Fat and Cellulite Fighting workouts.  The workouts are short, but I feel every muscle in my body working.  At least I'm keeping up with my workouts.

Workout schedule for week 22:

Monday-Saturday: Crying Fat Workouts, Cellulite Fighting Workouts, Smaller Waist by July workouts and walking 70,000 steps a week.

Recipe for the week is a really delicious, simple and healthy Coconut Curry Lentil Soup. I made this soup last week and it was great for lunch and dinner.  I also added kale to it.

Gettin' Lean In 2014 Update: Week 20

Well week 20 I was sick half of the time. Only worked out Monday-Wednesday.  Didn't eat as clean as I wanted to.  When I'm sick I crave carbs. I didn't just lay around.  I did walk a lot.  I made it to 70,000 steps last week.  I did some packing as well.  Officially seven weeks until we move to Toronto. It was good to take a break from working out.  I haven't had a break since my trip to Toronto and Chicago in March.

It's a new week and it's time to get back to work. I'm finally feeling 100% again.

Here's the workout schedule for week 21:

Tuesday: Fitness Blender Workout (I will attempt the new 1000 calorie workout.  Hoping to get through at least half of it.)

Wednesday-Sunday: Crying Fat Workouts, Cellulite Fighting Workouts, Smaller Waist by July workouts and walking 70,000 steps a week.

Recipe for the week is from the Go Fit Gals.  Go Fit Gal Risse is a master at making clean eating interesting and fun!  Here's a recipe from their BBQ Edition, GFG Coleslaw.
